The beautiful arches in Barkåkra church in the province of Skåne gave inspiration to the cable knitted cuff on the mitten Valvbård och hjulmotiv. Above the cuff, the mitten is adorned with a narrow border in stranded knitting, inspired by a painted border with crosses. This decorative border is found in several places in the church murals, made to enhance the arches. Pigments that have been used are carbon black and red ochre. On top of the mitten there is embroidery depicting one of the many different wheel motifs that have been painted above the arches. The thumb has an embroidered anchor, one of several painted symbols that can be seen in the vaulted ceiling of the church.
